Charleston Bridge Orientation

Congratulations on your decision to participate in Charleston Bridge. A one-day orientation has been designed to help you successfully transition into college life and prepare for the academic challenge that awaits you. The Charleston Bridge Orientation is unique and students accepted to the bridge program may only attend the orientation scheduled for July 19, 2019. Family members are welcome but are not required to attend the orientation. During orientation, you will hear about the program requirements and information about the resources available from Trident Technical College and the College of Charleston.

Once the tuition deposit is paid to College of Charleston, students will receive an email sent to their personal and College of Charleston email account with instructions about how to register for the Charleston Bridge Orientation using the Charleston Bridge channel found in MyCharleston on the academic services tab. The deadline to register for the July orientation is May 1, 2019. Students may also indicate on the registration form how many family members will be attending the Charleston Bridge Orientation.

During orientation students will have the opportunity to:

  • Meet other students in the Charleston Bridge program.
  • Hear from Trident Technical College administrators about financial aid, billing, buying books, disability services, using TTC EXPRESS, and IT support.
  • Review the Trident Technical College classes and finalize your fall course schedule. Trident Technical College will enroll students in their fall courses before orientation. Placement testing is not required for fall course registration.
  • Enjoy a free lunch for in the Liberty Fresh Food Company  from 11:30-1:00 p.m. at the College of Charleston. This dining facility is located at 30 St. Philip Street (#104 on the campus map).
  • Learn more about the Charleston Bridge program requirements, fall activities, and sign the program participation agreement.
  • Hear about student and academic support services available at College of Charleston.
  • Find out how to get involved in student life at the College of Charleston.
  • Meet your student success seminar instructor and get details about the seminar requirements.
  • Learn more about the four residence halls that are housing options for Charleston Bridge students (Berry, Buist, Craig, or Liberty residence hall) and hear details about the August move-in process. Orientation Check-In and Schedule Information

Students should plan to participate in orientation activities from 8:30-5:00 p.m. The Charleston Bridge Orientation morning check-in and activities will be held at the Trident Technical College (TTC) main campus and at the College of Charleston main campus in the afternoon. Morning orientation check-in occurs between 8:30-9:00 a.m. at Trident Technical College in the lobby of building 970 (the Nursing and Science building) at the main campus located at 7000 Rivers Avenue in North Charleston. The program begins at 9:15 a.m.

Afternoon activities, including lunch at Liberty Street Fresh Food Company, will be held at the College of Charleston. Lunch will be available 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. You will recieve a lunch voucher at the morning check-in at Trident Technical College. Check-in for the afternoon orientation at the College of Charleston will occur between 1:00-1:20p.m in Cougar Mall in front of the Maybank Hall classroom building. Cougar Mall is he outdoor common area located between Maybank Hall and the Robert Scott Small Building. The afternoon orientation program at the College of Charleston will begin at 1:30pm. Students and family members will be separated for the afternoon activities. You may wish to designate a meeting spot after the program ends.

Transportation to and from TTC or to the College of Charleston campus is not provided. Parking is not provided but public parking is available in downtown Charleston.
