Math Placement Testing Information

All students (freshman and transfer) must take the math placement test.   The test will be open on May 15 for students starting in the fall semester.

Students must complete the math placement test online at least two weeks before they attend orientation and meet with an academic advisor. Please be aware that failure to take the test before orientation will delay your registration.

The Math Placement Test is used only as an advising tool and is not used to award credit or exempt courses. Students must complete six hours of mathematics in order to graduate from the College of Charleston. This requirement may be fulfilled through AP credit or coursework completed at the College or another accredited college or university.  College Algebra does not fulfill this requirement.  Please note that all transfer credits must be evaluated by College of Charleston before credit is awarded.

Students can find more information about the math placement test and directions on taking the test on the Mathematics department website.
