Travel Information

New Student Orientation Housing

The College of Charleston Office of Residence Life and Housing offers housing for summer orientation sessions one through eight only for students. They do not offer housing for summer orientation sessions 9 and 10 and the January orientation session since the students have already moved into their school year assigned residence hall rooms.

If you’d like to reserve a space in a residence hall during orientation, please complete the registration form. The Department of Residence Life and Housing will assign you to one of our residence halls. The fee is $25.00 per night, payable to the Department of Residence Life and Housing, and is not included in your new student program fee.

General Information

All reservations must be made at least two weeks before your scheduled orientation. Space is very limited and reserved on a first-come, first-served basis, so please reserve your spot as early as possible after you log on to check your orientation confirmation.

Anyone who stays in a residence hall will be expected to abide by all College of Charleston rules and regulations. No smoking and no alcoholic beverages or drugs are allowed. All orientation participants are subject to the code of conduct found in the Student Handbook as well as in the Guide to Residence Life (reslife.cofc.edu). If you do not follow the rules, you will be subject to disciplinary action that could affect your status as a student for the upcoming semester.

Note: Bring linens for an extra-long single bed, a pillow, blanket, towels and toiletries, and shower shoes because the College does not provide these items. The residence hall that students will be assigned to has hall bathrooms, please plan accordingly. You must check out no later than 5:00 p.m. on the second day of orientation. You might be charged a late fee if you check out after 5:00 p.m.

Note: On-campus housing is available only for students attending the June and July orientation sessions only. On-campus housing is not available during the August sessions or the January session. Students attending those sessions will be able to move into their assigned school year housing.

Other Travel Information

Please note that the College does not offer a shuttle service from the airport to the campus. The airport does have a number of taxi and airport shuttle services available outside of the baggage claim area.
