New Student Orientation

Whether you're coming to college for the first time, transferring from another college or university or returning to college after a few years away, orientation is here to help!

You're considered a freshman student if you're coming to college for the first time. Even if you're starting off with college credits, you're still considered a freshman.

You're considered a transfer student if you're coming into college with more than 12 college credits and you've attended a college or university in the past. Every institution is different, so it's important to attend the College of Charleston's New Student Orientation.

If you're 23 years old or older, you're considered an adult student. Adult students have the option to attend orientation online. Note: Since the summer 2021 orientation is virtual, all adult students will attend regular student orientation (either freshman or transfer student, whichever applies).
